MYSTERY OF JAIGARH FORT

Built in 1726 by Sawai jai Singh Jaigarh fort has a very significant role in rajasthan

tourism.Located at Hills of eagles ,it is 500 feet above sea level. As we talk about Jaigarh fort , it is

just 7 km away from Amer fort and around 10 km away from Jaipur .

When i went to Amer fort ,it was surprising to see another fort which was situated 400 feet above

from Amer fort. so i thought to have a another view of Amer fort from Jaigarh fort .Jaigarh fort is

connected with Amer fort by a subterranean passages . i went through the way but the connecting

path is a very complex.

The fort provide an exellent view of Aravali hills and especially Amer fort which really seems to be

great .the jaigarh fort is highly fortified with thick walls of red sandstone and is apread over a plane

of 3 km. there are two temples within the fort precincts, one isthe Ram Harihar temple of around

10 CE and anotheris KAL Bhairav temple of around 12CE.

The water supply infort was extermely wonderfull . It was met by creating water harvesting

structure in vicinity of aravali hills catchments . they store water in three underground tanks below

the central courtyard.the largest tank can store water around 6 million gallons of water . this is the

reason i love Rajasthan , the people there had developed technique to find solution of there problem

in most beatifull way .

There is also an armoury chamber which has wide display of swords ,shields,muskets and also a 50

kg cannonball .

There is a museum located left of the Awami Gate which exhibits photos of royalties of Jaipur

,stampsand many artfacts .the JAIGARH fort also has world's largest cannon on wheels of early

modern era . i found it pretty amazing , as the cannon was never used in any war , it was fired just

once during it's testing.

Mystery of jaigarh fort

There was a rumours that a trasure belonging to Kachwaha rulers of Amer had been stacked in the

fort precints , that led to totally unsuccessful search . The search had been ordered by Indian PRIME

MINISTER Indira Gandhi during 1975-1977. the national highways were closed for around 2 days

and many people beleive that they saw Army tanks ruming around . So a question arises in

Parliament stating that whether the treasure was delivered directly to prime minister's residence .

But later on it was conjugated that Probably Sawai Jai singh uses that treasure to build the beautifull

city Jaipur . But what is true is still under dark .

So , if you are reluctant to go for Jaipur , then a tour to jaigarh fort is also must including Amer fort.

the fort is open from 10am -5 pm and remains closed on public and government holidays .

Since Jaipur is comperatively a hot city so it will be better to travel in winter although i went there

around rainy season so it's upto you .
